BULAIR wurde 1968 von der Balkan für die Durchführung von Charterflügen, sowohl im Passagier- als auch im Frachtbereich, gegründet. Bis zur Auflösung im Jahre 1972 wurden dann zahlreiche Touristenflüge ab Schönefeld nach Varna und Burgas durchgeführt. Ein erster bestätigter Besuch einer IL-18D in den vollen Farben erfolgte dabei am 11. Mai 1968 mit der LZ-BET.

BULAIR was formed in 1968 as a division of Balkan, to operate cargo charters and inclusive-tour flights. After the confirmed first visit operated with an IL-18D (LZ-BET) on May 11th. 1968, the airline was then a common sight at the airport SXF mainly on flights to Varna and Bourgas until the re-integration into the main company took place during the year of 1972.
