JAT - Yugoslav Airlines

  • JAT opened a regular line-service between Belgrade and Berlin/SXF on March 31th.1960. To this time, soviet IL-14s were used on these flights, which were already replaced with Convair 440s in 1964, caused by its pro-western organized fleet-politics.

  • Under the brand Air Yugoslavia, a charter-company of JAT, also an extensive flight-program was offered annually from Schönefeld to the vacation-centers at the Yugoslavian Mediterranean-coast.

  • During the tragic sequence of events on the territory of former Yugoslavia that led to the break-up, this resulted in a forced halt to international traffic in 1992 and first services to Berlin were again offered in 1996.

  • Today, the Airline was newly formed as JAT Airways and flies to Berlin three times the week on a line-service from Belgrade.
    ---------------------------------------------------------

  • From the spotter's view, the airline was always good for a suprise. Airlines which "operated" on JAT flights like: ADC Aero Contractors / Air Afrique / Bellview A/l / Savannah A/l / Sosoliso A/l or a Boeing 737-300 in the full colors of Aerocontinente would surely not to be seen at the airport SXF.
