- Northwest Airlines besuchte Tegel zum ersten Mal bei einer Zwischenlandung eines Linienfluges von Minneapolis nach Frankfurt.

- Ein weiterer Besuch fand 1994 als Begleitflugzeug mit Vertretern der Presse statt, die den amerikanischen Präsidenten Bill Clinton wärend eines Staatsbesuches begleiteten.
