Die Berlin Air Show
Juni 2008.
The Berlin Air Show 2006, which
took place from May 19th. until 21st. so on six planned days instead of
a week as in the years before, was again a public attraction with over
250.000 visitors. But it was a success also in other numbers, because
over 1.000 exhibitors from 42 nations appeared with their exhibits this
time and achieved successful contracts again.
And for sure, this years visitor
record was reached because of the visit of the giant Airbus A380, which
completed an impressive flight program together with the sister machines.
However, among the highlights should also be named a TU-204 in full Vladivostok
Avia colors as well as the first visit of an IL-76TD equipped with modern
PS-90 engines. In the business section, EMBRAER from Brazil was present
with its Legacy 600 jet for the first time. Dominant with a big product
spectrum was the Raytheon Aircraft Corporation and amazingly Dassault
Aviation from France was not present this time.
By the various military airplanes,
with which again the main focus is not dedicated to these here, two aircraft
nevertheless earn observation. As first the first visit of the american
B-1B bomber and the presentation as well as official transfer of a more
modern surveilance and reconnaissance aircraft for the german navy, the
Lockheed P-3C "Orion", which will replace the old Breguet "Atlantique".
The traffic minister from the Netherlands specifically arrived for the
official act of delivery, because these aircraft came from the naval air
force of this country.
On the other hand, there were
also a lot of historic airplanes visiting the airshow and providing big
attention as well. As for two years ago, the Dornier Do-24ATT was back
again and another hydroplane a lovingly restored "Catalina"
from a british foundation came also to Berlin. Further highlights were
the reproduction of a Messerschmitt ME-262, the well known DC-6 of Red
Bull and as a surprise a Antonov AN-2 painted in full INTERFLUG colors.
This particular aircraft was of interest because it was stored several
years in a bad condition at the Museumpark in Diepensee, a small village
in south of SXF airport and obviously she was now restored and made airworthy
again.
The next ILA will now opens its doors from May
27th. up to June 01st. 2008. Jedes Foto öffnet im neuen Fenster / Every picture
